Hello champions! I want to open up today’s post with a reminder that if there’s anything you’d like me to specifically talk about—whether it’s something about my books, writing, or just life in general— don’t be afraid to shout it out in the comments! Sometimes it’s hard to come up with content for my blog, mostly because I don’t know if you’re getting sick of a particular topic, or if there’s something else you’d rather discuss.
I say that because the past few weeks I’ve been at a loss as to what I should discuss in my posts. I know I should write about snow Queen, however, that series is so full of spoilers for the future of the Timeless Fairy Tale series, that I’m a little leery of mentioning it. You Champions are too intelligent!
I am grateful and humbled, though, by the amazing support you guys gave Sacrifice. The Snow Queen books have been my best sellers to date, and I’m thrilled by the overwhelmingly positive response to with them. In fact, right now Amazon.uk and Amazon.au are running specials on Heart of Ice as part of a month-long deal. Hear t of Ice’s price has been significantly slashed on those two stores, so if you use Amazon.uk or Amazon.au please check it out!
Finally, I’m going to wrap up this post by adding that Princess Ahira is going to be for free on April 15 to celebrate the due date of American taxes. ( Myrrhlynn pointed out to me it would’ve been a lot more appropriate if Cinderella and the Colonel was the selected celebration book due to Cinderella’s struggle against taxes. Unfortunately, I had already set up the special, or I would’ve changed it!)

Hi Skylar! Yes, there will be one more King Arthur book–which I’m hoping to release this fall–that will end the series! (It will be a full length novel, so much longer than the other books of the series.) Also I LOVE the ship name of Meritt–that is perfect!
I LOVE your books. LOVE. In many ways I can identify with Rakel and her struggles with trust and friendship and the idea of family. Surviving an…unhappy childhood I understand the longing for acceptance and family. I am almost finished with the second Snow Queen books. I don’t want to finish it because then I’ll have to let her go. Thank you for these books. Thank you for the escape, for the adventure and for the fresh, new twist on the beloved fairy tales I grew up with.
Aww, thank you for the encouragement! I blab about it a lot, but my main goal as an author is to write stories that entertain and uplift, so your words mean a lot to me. 🙂 I hope you find the end of the Snow Queen books satisfying, and thank you for your loyalty and support.
I’d love to hear more about how other mages are able to trigger the Snow Queen’s magic, and why Rakel’s magic would defeat (spoilers!) King Torgun when she was so against killing. Also I’d love to know how much time has passed between Rakel’s time and the rest of the Timeless Fairy Tale stories, and how long Rakel (and other enchanters) generally live for. Sorry I’m so specific. 🙂 More information in general would be great. But I’m also not against waiting til your other books come out. where would the fun be, then?
Oh-ho-ho-ho *claps hands* YES! Yes I will write a post about this! I obsess over small details like this, but I’ve presumed that I’m the only one who would care about the fun little pieces and how they fit together. (Although I will admit the timeline between Rakel and the other fairy tales is sketchy as I’m still trying to map out some other prequel-esque fairy tales and where they fit in.)

Hopefully you’ll find it interesting! Sometimes I tend to ramble on about topics, so when I post the posts don’t be afraid to ask for info about something specific–though I’m planning to tackle some of the ones you listed.
I would love to hear more about the conclave and just about how the magic in the world you created works. For example, in Snow Queen you talk a lot about the price of magic but never the limit. How big is the limit? Or just more specifics on the price of Stil’s magic.
I’ll admit it: I did the happy dance after seeing your comment! I actually have the changes all worked out–the problem is I haven’t written any books that take place between the Snow Queen and the other fairy tales, so you haven’t been able to witness the transition. However!! As you have expressed interest in it I’m going to give myself permission to publicly obsess over it for a bit. 😉
That makes me do a little happy dance!
I think it’d be interesting to hear more of your thoughts on writing and reading. Obviously you like clean and humorous books with strong main characters, but tell us how you like to create your characters, or if you ever steal little bits of them from people you know? What frustrates you most about books you don’t like? If you had to pick the most important aspect of a story, would it be the intricacy of the plot, the depth of the characters, that style of writing that surpasses genre and pulls you, or something else? They’re all important, but what one matters the most to you? What makes a good story, and good story, when you think back to some of your favorite books? For me it is always that sweet element, and enough realness to the characters that they’re relatable.
It’d also be okay to talk about just things that happen to you that you think are kind of funny, or really whatever you want. It’s a blog, so it doesn’t have to be all about your books, especially since there can be stagnant times when you’re writing a book where you’re still working and progressing but there isn’t really much else to tell us. Tell us what your first novel that you wrote in eighth grade was about, and what made it so awful. Maybe tell us about the novels in between then and when you started publishing, and some of the difficulties you had. Where you ever hopeless that you’d write anything worth reading, or did you have faith in yourself, and that if you kept trying you’d make it.
Don’t feel obligated to answer any of my questions if you don’t want to, I just kind of wanted to give you some ideas. And I won’t be offended if you don’t read all of this, because it’s kind of long for just a comment.
Never apologize for a long comment! 🙂 I ask questions because I want to hear your thoughts about it, so details = spectacular. In fact, I’m going to save your comment so I can reference it back when I’m–as you mentioned–at a loss of what to write in a post. Thank you for all the great ideas! (Hahah, although that first book you mentioned. Uck. I’ll talk about that when I need my pride pruned!)
I would love it if you gave us little details about the characters in your stories we already know and love. It would be great to know that Cinderella had Sun Skips in her wedding bouquet or Elle developed a passion for almonds after all the teasing and nut offering Severin put her through. Just little bits of information would make my day.

I would like to know if you plan to do other books like the snow queen. I remember in one of the freebies you said something about others like the snow queen, heroes for other countries. Are you planing to do those stories?
Yes, I’ve got a few stories lined up that all take place before the current events of the Timeless Fairy Tales. The books will still be based on fairy tales, but it will be a much looser association and some of them will be two books like Snow Queen. 🙂 (I’m excited about it, because it will give me a chance to show how the world has changed from the Snow Queen’s time to Angelique’s!)
Is the Snow Queen and the Timeless Fairy Tales connected by the evil mirror? Is that what the evil people in the Timeless Fairy Tales are after?

You’re thinking down the right trail–the mirror from the Snow Queen books does have an impact in the events of the Timeless Fairy Tales–but to keep the site spoiler free, I’m not going to confirm how it affects the events. 😉

The newsletters go out at the beginning of every month–April’s was released 4/2. May’s will be in the first week of the month.
Do you think you would ever redo certain scenes from a book from the POV of another character? Like as freebies i mean. Because i really enjoyed seeing Farrin’s thoughts from Snow Queen, and that got me thinking that i would love to see like, for example, Asher or Aron’s first thoughts in Life Reader when Raven first arrives, or the first moment when Arion first realizes he’s in love in Tari in Red Rope of Fate, or like what Friedrich thought when he first approached Cinderella (cause that chapter made him seem like he was a complete creep, which i just can’t imagine him being). There are tons of more examples i can think of, like of course, getting into Merlin’s head throughout the King Arthur series (ANY moment at all would be amazing; come on, it’s Merlin) or even what Queen Ingrid was thinking when she decided to adopt Elise and i just realized i’m rambling now I’m sorry for that.
Just a thought i wanted to share, and i would really appreciate it if you would think about it.
Oh, Jessa, that’s a great idea. Kitty, I’d like to second that thought. Almost all the chapters are written from the heroines perspective. But knowing what the hero in any book’s thinking would be a wonderful thing to mull over for a bit.
Oohhhh that is a fabulous idea, Jessa! I’ve stayed away from that sort of thing thus far because I wasn’t sure if anyone would be interested in it, but if you guys support it…! 😉 It’s something I will certainly do in the future–although, spoiler: I’m doing a revamp of Red Rope right now, and it’s getting several Arion POV scenes added to it!

No, you shouldn’t have to repurchase it. If I can show Amazon all of the changes, they’ll re-issue the story to everyone who has bought it. 🙂 It won’t be out for a few weeks, though, so you’ve got a bit of a wait.

No problem! The new version of Red Rope is actually live right now, but I’m still in the process of getting Amazon to update it. They’re going over it right now, but it will probably be another week or two before anything happens. Updates, sadly, do NOT happen quickly. 😦
Hey, Kitty. I was wondering if you could make another Hero poll. I did not get to participate in the last one. Also, a heroine poll would be pretty cool. Or a friends poll, like Puss/Roland if Aysel’l girl’s gonna have a constant companion like that. Just wondering, and you absolutely don’t have to do any of this.
Sadly, I only hold the hero poll one time a year, in January. However! I do have plans to expand my annual polls, so you should get a chance to vote on something new in the next few months. 🙂
