Mother’s Day Raffle

Happy Mother’s Day, champions! Originally I had planned to release a post about the roles of enchanters and enchantresses in the Timeless Fairy Tale series today, however, there ended up being a few new, more pressing, updates I need to share.

To begin with, Red Rope of Fate has gone through a massive edit/rewrite. I’ve uploaded the new version, so it is available to purchase, but for those of you who have already bought it, I talked to an Amazon support techie, who made update available in your user account. He said, “We’ve sent an e-mail to customers who own the book to notify them of the update. These customers can download the update through their “Manage Your Content and Devices” page.” So keep an eye out for the email, or check out your “manage your content and devices” page.

The Red Rope of Fate rewrite includes several new scenes told from Arion’s point of view, and I trimmed down a lot of lengthy explanations. Hopefully, you will enjoy the changes!

Up next, is the KM Shea starter pack! In order to encourage newsletter sign-up, I will now be giving away a “starter pack” to anyone who signs up for the newsletter. The starter pack includes a two page King Arthurs short story, a four page Red Rope of Fate prequel story, and a short fairytale-esque story. (The fairytale story has no ties to the timeless fairy tales world, it is a completely original story.)

If you sign up for the newsletter, a link to the starter pack will be included in your welcome email. The link will take you to a site where you can download file for your Kindle, or view the PDF file. I am aware that many of you have already signed up for the newsletter, so in May’s newsletter– which will be going out shortly–I will include a link to the starter pack so everyone gets a chance to download it.

Finally, today marks the beginning of my Mother’s Day raffle. It’s free to enter, and out of the entrants five randomly selected winners will receive a K. M. Shea ebook of their choice. It opens today, and will close Thursday night, May 12. This raffle follows all the usual terms and conditions– I reserve the right to change the prize, shut down the raffle, etc– and you can only enter once.

As you might recall, there isn’t a rafflecopter widget for wordpress, so I have to use a link. So click here to go to the raffle!

Finally, I want to conclude with a shout out to all of you mothers! (And when I say mothers, I mean all of you wonderful ladies who have had an impact on the generations that come after you. Not all mothers have given birth, and that doesn’t make you any less amazing or inspiring to those who look up to you.) Being a mother is an incredible, tough, and simultaneously heartbreaking job, but I am so grateful for all of you! Enjoy your special day, and have a fabulous weekend! Thanks for reading, and I promise next week I’ll get that post out!

  1. YES!!! Updates in Red Rope! Gives me an excuse to read it again. I’m also very excited for the short stories in the Starter Pack. It’s a good thing you will be sending these out to everyone who already signed up, cause I just did about three days ago and that would be a bummer.

    • Yes, you JUST missed it then. I actually started offering the starter pack yesterday, but I wanted to tinker around and make sure everything went through before making the announcement. (Cuz you know me and technical issues….wheeeeeee!)

      • Yes I got the Starter Pack by the newsletter anyway. I’m trying to find time to read it though between school and reading your King Arthur books.

      • The starter pack is pretty short so hopefully you’ll be able to squeak it in easily–although good luck with school!

  2. My amazon copy of Red Rope is still the older version. Did amazon indicate when they might update the story or send the email?

Just re-read this not that long ago so it’ll be interesting to read the changes.

    • It won’t automatically update on your Kindle, you need to approve it under the “manage your content and devices” page. They wanted to make the update optional because they’re worried customers will be upset about losing their highlights. Based on the wording of their email, I believe the email has gone out already/is going out today, but they seem to be intentionally vague about deadlines…

    • For those of you who didn’t pick up on it, this is Editor #1. 😉 I knew she liked Arion so I was purposely trying to time this with a few other surprises for her, buuut my efforts unfortunately fell flat. Still, say hello to Editor #1 everyone!

  3. I’ve checked the manage your contents and device page but it doesn’t say anything about updates for red rope. is there like something specific we need to do or?

    • sorry let me clarify:
I’ve checked the page, and i’ve updated some of my other books, but there’s just no update available next to red rope of fate
did the update not post yet? because i previewed the book and i see some of the new stuff, but for some reason i still have the old copy. pls help i NEED to read the new stuff 😦

      • I can’t say for certain if the update has been posted or not–They had forced the update on my copy so I could make sure everything looked good–but I think it has–Editor #1 (Jeri) said she already skimmed it.

It might be something with your account. I searched around on the internet, and the best response I got was that you should talk with Amazon tech support. (You can call or email them, a phone call is recommended) In order to contact Amazon, go to any Amazon page and scroll to the bottom. Under the “Let Us Help You” at the very bottom there is a “Help” tab.

Once on the new help page, scroll down to the “Browse Help Topics” and at the bottom of the topics list you’ll see “Need More Help?” click on that and it will bring up a sub-menu. One of the sub-menu options is “Contact Us” which will take you to a new page. It asks what you want help with (Digital services) and what the exact problem is, then asks your preferred contact method–reports say a phone call is best.

Then just tell the you have a book in your account that you want updated because there is a new edition available, and you haven’t gotten the “updates available” button yet.

Whew, sorry for the long reply! Let me know if you still haven’t gotten it–I’ll be away from my computer until Monday, but after that I’ll be available!

      • Yeah, it was just me. Once i contacted tech support they fixed it right away (email does nothing, i think online chat is actually the best cause they did it literally in 2 seconds). Thank you so much for the help though

      • Thanks for letting me know! I added your intel to my post today to help those who are still struggling to get the update. 🙂

  4. I chatted with Amazon support. Gave them the book title and author and they pushed the update to my devices. When I asked, customer service said 24 to 72 hours before the update button might appear.

  5. Hi, I just bought this but I’m not sure which version. I enjoyed it a lot – it’s probably my favourite of your books, despite my love of Brit. However there weren’t any scenes directly from Arion’s point of view, only his viewpoint as explained to Tavi. Does that mean I have the older version.

    • Hi Mog, the first line of the new version is “Elves and humans could not communicate. Tari had known this since she was young. But now, moments away from being bound…..” If your ebook doesn’t start with those words then it is the old version. 🙂

  6. I loved the starter pack! It was wonderful. Also, I had a thought. Maybe you could draw a map of the Timeless Fairytales series? I feel like that would be helpful. I adored the plot twist in the fairytale in the starter pack!!!

    • I’m so glad you liked that! I had the fairy tale swimming in my brain for a long time, but I knew it wasn’t going to be good as a full length novel, so it was SO FUN to be able to write it for this! It was a little unusual because it had zero romance, so I’m especially glad to hear that you liked it. 🙂

    • Woops, I forgot to say I would LOVE to have a map of the Timeless Fairy Tale world, but if I’m going to do it I want to do it write and use an actual map drawer…person. So I do hope to one day do that, but it won’t be for a while. 😦

  7. Hello again! I borrowed Red Rope of Fate using Kindle Unlimited. However, I seem to have gotten the old version. Do you have any idea of how I could get the new version? Should I just buy it?

  8. Hello again again! I just bought Red Rope of Fate. It still seems to be the old version! Do you know how I could get the new version?

    • Hey there! Yes, I have been getting lots of emails from KU readers who are stuck with the old version, so you are not alone. Sadly you will have to talk to customer service to get the updated copy. I cant copy and paste right now because I’m terrible with my smart phone, but if you scroll up and look at the comments I have previously posted a massive comment on this blog entry that will walk you through it. 🙂

  9. I LOVED the added scenes! It was great to see what was going on in Arion’s head through some of my favorite parts of the book (like the part where he walks in on Tari drinking with his men).

    • YES! I LOVE that scene! It was the most fun to write the first time around, so it was even more fun to add Arion’s point of view in there for this edition! (So yes, I’m really happy you like the changes! 😀 )
