Fifteen-year-old Raven Wishmore was supposed to snatch a cauldron. Instead she accidentally blows up a library.

When Raven’s father—a spy for Kingdom Quest, a secret society devoted to protecting magic and punishing magic abusers—is charged with finding a priceless cauldron, Raven is coerced into joining the investigation. Raven—forced into a gum snapping, skirt wearing, ditzy disguise—is employed at Saint Cloud Library, which is ruled by a tyrannical library director who has declared all book sections closed. Her coworkers are wary, unfriendly, and unconcerned that the library’s magic is taking on the disposition of a chained monster.

It gets worse. Thanks to a cyber security leak an organization of magic abusers know the cauldron is at Saint Cloud. They will burn the library to the ground to get the cauldron if Raven doesn’t find it first. The only things Raven has going for her is her friendship with the mischievous Montamos brothers, who specialize in breaking and entering, and her dubious magic, the ability to read things to life. However, Raven is unwilling to use her power, as she knows firsthand that her magic-based creations are willing to destroy her.

In the epic stories falling in love is often described as a beautiful, wonderful experience. Tari finds it to be life threatening, embarrassing, and nothing but heartache.

When Tari, an elf, is selected to be bound to Captain Arion, a human military officer, in a ceremony designed to promote friendship between their countries it is discovered that the two can communicate with each other in spite of the language barrier. Not everyone is supportive of the change Tari and Arion symbolize, so in addition to attending evening teas and royal luncheons Tari and Arion dodge kidnapping attempts and blackmail plots crafted by powerful political figures.

In spite of the court intrigue, Tari is dumbfounded when she realizes she has fallen in love with Arion, who has the emotional capabilities of a rock. As both human and elf society dictate that an elf and a human can never be together, Tari must conceal her feelings. Unfortunately the taciturn Arion is watchful and attentive to Tari’s well being, constantly pushing her to her limits with his loyalty, friendship, and dreadfully informal habit of touching her.

If Tari and Arion survive, their tumultuous relationship will either strengthen their countries’ alliance, or cripple the human courts of nobility. The deciding factor will be Arion, and his indecipherable feelings for Tari.

Red Rope of Fate Reviews:

“Ok, so that was just plain sweet…exactly what I was looking for. Even before any of the romance emerged Tari and Arion’s interactions were a joy to behold.” – Sadie @ SadieForsythe.com

“The supporting cast is brilliant! I really like everyone we get to deal with in the story – even a couple of the characters that were the ‘villains’ of the story.” Amy @ Pages of Starlight

Princess Ahira – Buy the e-book on Amazon

Once upon a time? Please! What a joke.

Princess Ahira is not your average damsel in distress. She hates being a princess and constantly tries to flee from her mother and her lectures. Pleasantly, her life is shattered on the eve of her sixteenth birthday when she is kidnapped by dragons.

Ahira is selected by a powerful dragon named Azmaveth to be his captive princess, and lives with him—cleaning his pigpen den—as they forge a strange sort of friendship. Living with Azmaveth brings more adventures than Ahira ever saw in her family’s castle. Not only do Azmaveth’s inventive spells seem to backfire on himself and those around him, but he lives in a land where fairytales are completely backwards. Unfortunately, Ahira isn’t visiting the dragons during a peaceful time. The valkyrie, mystical female warriors bent on dominion over magic, are marching against the dragons, and everything—from dragons to gnomes—are rallying together to fight back. What Ahira doesn’t know is that her emotions and romantic life will have a powerful impact on the looming war.

Princess Ahira Reviews:

“It’s just a flat-out entertaining read. Ahira and her friends are generally likable, the setting is pretty neat, and between Ahira’s slice-of-life adventures as a dragon’s princess and the overarching threat of war, the story zips along at a good clip and keeps you engaged until the end.”  – Belinda @ In the Land of Dragons

“When all is said and done, this was a fun read and I loved the squat little unicorn that Ahira makes friends with; it just made me giggle.” – bookjunkie @ Live to Read

  1. I just wanted to know if there was going to be another book for my life in the mrbc really loved the first one and it ended like there could be more

    • There WILL be another MBRC book, the timing right now is a little up in the air though. This spring I plan to let readers vote for which story they would most like to see a sequel to: My Life at the MBRC, Life Reader, or Red Rope of Fate. Whatever book wins will get written over the summer–eventually I will write sequels for the losing books, but most likely not until this fall or next year.

      • I love your books, all of them!! I really hope you wirte a sequel to My life at the MBRC and Life Reader!! Those are woderful books that deserve that the story keeps growing, I also loved King Arthur and her knights! Please keep writing about them !

      • Hi Sammy and Jennie. I’m glad to announce that I’m prepping for MBRC’s Sequel this week! I should begin writing it next week. Thanks for reading!

  2. omg, i love and own all your books! i would love it if you made another book for my life at the mbrc as a sequal (srry i’m a really bad speller) i would also love it if you wrote another for king aurther and her knights! thnks!

  3. Oh my word.
There are no words, none, to explain how brilliant K.M.Shea’s version of Beauty and the Beast really is.
I’ve just finished it and I’m still sniffling.
I loved this book, I’m usually not a huge fan of fairytales but you certaintly did a wonderful job.
    5/5 stars 😉

  4. Hey I have got to say that i really loved your books. Beauty and the Beast was the 1st one i read and i fell in love with it, which made me read Life Reader, my absolute favourite book! It would be amazing if there is a sequel to it as it felt like a series i could get really emerged in. Also i am planning to read My Life at the MBRC, it sounds interesting. Your books are amazing, keep doing what you are doing!! XD

    • Thanks for the compliments, Zoe! I do have an eventual sequel to Life Reader planned, although I don’t think I will be able to tackle it until 2015. In the meantime I’m thrilled to hear you enjoy my books!

  5. I have really enjoyed all of your books-highly creative and original take on much loved classics (King Arthur, Beauty and the Beast, Robyn Hood), as well as fun original story lines (Princess Ahira, Red Rope of Fate, MBRC). Love the humor interspersed throughout these books. Thanks for sharing your talent! Keep them coming, please!

  6. I just purchased Life Reader last night, I could not and would not put it down! I couldnt stop once I started! It was such an interesting, fun, and orignial book. I was really hoping there would be a squel? or maybe a series?! I would be thrilled! thank you so much for the awesome read 🙂

    • Hi Christina, yes, I am planning to write two more Life Reader books. The first sequel probably won’t be tackled until 2015, but it is coming! I’m glad you enjoyed Life Reader so much! (If you haven’t checked it out there is a free, extra chapter to Life Reader in the Freebies section.)

  7. Thank you so much for the update!! I will be waiting for your MBRC sequel, I love the way you write and have all your books. Love your sense of humor!!!
Please write fast, really need to know what happens!!

  8. Love all of your books cannot wait for the sequel to Life Reader! I’m very interested in finding out where life takes our favorite trio of page turners! Please write this soon!?!

    • Princess Ahira is in a different world–one that is more fantasy based than fairy tale structured. Additionally, all of the books from the Timeless Fairy Tales have a bit of historical research that go into them. (For instance, Loire, the setting of Beauty and the Beast, is vaguely based on the 1600’s French culture because it’s a French fairy tale.) Good thought, though. 🙂

  9. I want a more Red Rope books. That and Cinderella are my favorites. I won’t even tell you how many times I’ve read them. Who really reads the same two books every week? Yah, that would just be silly!

    • Ah-hah! A Red Rope fan, hm? I love that book and world, so I do hope to write about it again the future. (Arion and his men are so much fun to write about!) I’m honored to hear you like Red Rope and Cinderella! Thanks for reading!

    • One day (probably several years from now) I hope to return to Arion and Tari’s world. While I would like to write a follow up adventure to their story, at the very least I will be taking another look at the humans/high elves/lesser elves story. 🙂

  10. I love your books! I’ve read l of them and can’t wait for more. There great and when I’m bored ill read one of the books again just because. Going to read your books again and again.

    • I’m glad you like them so much you enjoy re-reading them! To me, that’s one of the ultimate compliments an author can receive, so thank you! 🙂

  11. So yeah whenever you tackle a Life Reader sequel I’ll be so happy. I know there’s more to come. Started with the Timeless and have been going since Feb reading all your books. Life Reader has been my absolute favorite original work tho so far. Tho I adored your reimagining of the Timeless. Noe I’m going to go read the others on my list.

    • Hi Marie! Yes, you are correct–there will be a Life Reader sequel. I’m hoping to start it this year, but because it’s a massive undertaking (Life Reader is nearly three Timeless Fairy Tales) it won’t be released this year. I’m glad to hear you enjoy the Timeless Fairy Tales! They’re a lot of fun to write!

  12. Ok so i will be honest, I pushed off reading your books because i just didnt think they sounded that great. I was so very very wrong and I am sorry for ever thinking that. I think i have read, in three weeks, every book of yours i could get my hands on. I’ve also told my mother and little sisters about your books. They are amazing and so addictive. You are a very talented writer and your books have brought me so manny smiles. Thank you. P.S. – I can not wait for another Life Reader book.

    • Hello Erin, thank you for your message! (It made me laugh pretty hard and smile in glee.) Thank you also for your many compliments–although I can’t help but feel a little unworthy. 😉 I am especially glad, however, to hear I managed to make you smile. I love making people laugh with my books! There is a Life Reader sequel lurking on the horizon, and I do hope to start it this year, but it won’t be released until next year. Thank you for reading–I hope my future stories make you smile just as much as the others!

  13. I really love your books!!! You are one of the most amazing authors that can write about fairytales/fantasy. I really like all your books, especially the Timeless Fairy Tales series. I feel that Life Reader isn’t complete and I hope you’re going to write another sequel soon??? I have a question though, does Princess Ahira and Red Rope of Fate happen in the same world but at a different time??? Will there be a sequel to either of those books too??? I can’t wait to read more of your books!!!

    • Hi Alicia, I (finally!) responded to your comment on a different post about Life Reader’s sequel, but just in case, Yes, there will be a sequel. However, Life Reader is much longer than any other book, so while I hope to start it this year it won’t be out until 2016. Hopefully you’ll think it’s worth the wait. 😉 Ahira’s story is finished, but I do have plans to write books that take place in both Ahira’s world, and in Arion/Tari’s world. (They are separate–Ahira’s world is a little more like a storybook, and Arion and Tari’s is far more political and cut-throat.) Thanks for reading!

    • Hello Chloe! Yes, I do have plans for a Life Reader sequel! 🙂 However, Life Reader is much longer than my other books, so while I hope to start it this year, it won’t be out until 2016.

  14. I just finished reading The Little Selkie, and it was great! A thought happened to cross my mind at the time. Do ever see yourself writing adaptations of Alice in Wonderland or Peter Pan?

    • I don’t have any plans for a Peter Pan adaption, but eventually (in the far off future) I hope to write a book that takes place in the Timeless Fairy Tale world and is (VERY LOOSELY) inspired by Alice in Wonderland. I say inspired by because the tale will have very little resemblance to the original, and will be more like a nod or tip of the hat to it. 😉

  15. Hey I love your books especially Princess Ahira, and wanted to know if you were going to write a sequel, maybe even from A different persons point of view??? I would absolutely love this, and thank you so much for writing 🙂

    • Ahira’s story is finished, but I wouldn’t completely rule out the possibility of returning to her world for an adventure with different characters. 🙂 If i did do such a thing, it wouldn’t be for a few years, though.

  16. During the past week I have read all your books excepting the King Arthur series. I just finished Life Reader, and it was so far my favorite, (closely tied with The Little Selkie.) Now I find myself disappointed because I want more! I hope you write more Life Reader books. I cant wait to find out how the twins will complicate Raven’s life as an Administrative Assistant. What is Jeremiah hiding? Will Shannon return with a bigger role? Please write more! 🙂

    • I just read some of the other comments and realize that you already plan to release a sequel in 2016. I cant wait! 🙂

      • Yes! As you mentioned, a sequel is coming in 2016! I’m glad you like Life Reader, though. It’s probably my secret favorite out of all my books. The setting and the content matter are very special and important to me. 😉

  17. I love the Timeless Fairy Tales but I think my favorite book that you have written is Life Reader and I eagerly await the sequel (thank you for answering that questions in the FAQ’s and the comments above). Just knowing that you do plan to write a sequel makes me super excited for it. In the mean time I plan to thoroughly enjoy all of your other books.😊

    • Life Reader is my secret favorite, too! The library setting is dear to me, and the characters are so fun. 🙂 I apologize for the long delay, but in there. The sequel WILL come!

  18. I’ve been reading for most of my teenage life , and feel quite safe in saying your timeless fairytales adaptions are perhaps the best retellings of a beloved story, am greatly looking forward to reading your other books like Princess Ahira or Red Rope of Fate once I get money. After all broke teenage in Ireland can’t have everything, can’t wait for your next books.

    • Hi Anike, I’m glad you like my retellings! I love fairy tales (the originals, movies, adaptions, everything!) so your message was a supreme compliment! Also, I suggest you either subscribe to my newsletter, or “follow” my blog as I occasionally make Red Rope and Princess Ahira free as a one-day special. (It only happens about once every three months, but if you’re watching you can snag them!) Thank you for reading!

    • As of right now, only Beauty and the Beast is in print. I’m working on getting the rest of the Timeless Fairy Tales books into paperback, but the editing and formatting is taking a bit longer than expected. Even so, Cinderella should be available by the end of summer, and Rumpelstiltskin and Little Selkie by December. 🙂

  19. hi! i just wanted to say that i love your books! I’ve read all of them, and every time one of my friends asks me who my favorite author is, i always say ‘k m shea” and as someone who is a total nonstop reader (seriously I read at least a 300 book a day) thats not something I say lightly! also I happen to love lady linnea’s last name! ( I don’t think i spelled that right:)) so thanks so much!!! Can’t wait to read whats next!!! thanks so much!

    • Awww, thank you! I’m a big reader, so I know it’s an honor to be considered a favorite. I’ll try hard to continue writing stories for you to enjoy! Thank you for your support. 🙂

  20. Just finished red rope of fate for the second time. What a great story. Love the concept of 2 cultures living together but unable to communicate without help. Actually I’ve read everything you have written. Any hope for a sequel to red rope? Keep on writing good, enjoyable, clean fiction

    • I’m so glad you like it! Tari and Arion were adorable to write, and I’m quite fond of Arion’s taciturn personality. Anyway, I am hoping to return to the world of Red Rope of Fate in 2017! It wouldn’t be a sequel per say, however, as Arion and Tari would be in the book, but they would not be the main characters. 🙂

      • Now that would be cool! I love Red Rope of Fate, and Life Reader. Those are probably my favorite of all your books. The twins remind me of my little brothers!

  21. Hey, I was wondering, could you make a list of all your girls in timeless fairytales by their ages? ‘Cause I never could figure out when what was happening. Thanks!

    • So, you’ve probably already found this, but just in case:
If you go to the ‘Timeless Fairy Tales’ page, one of the first things you will see is a blue link that says “PDF File”. It will take you to a timeline that lists all the events of the series in order.
      Hope this helps!

  22. Quick question: in Princess Ahira, was Ahira’s brother named after Prince Caspian from Narnia and their elven servant after Círdan the Shipwright from Lord of the Rings? 🙂

    • WOW, It’s been forever since I have peeked at Ahira, so I forgot about that, but yes, you are right. I do love Tolkien and C. S. Lewis, so occasionally I slip a little nod to them in my work. 😉 You have a sharp eye!

  23. Hey, so I noticed on your Life Reader blog that Raven’s original disguise was as a BOY! Random question: what was her fake name then? Also, I am SO excited for a sequel!!!! Please keep us posted on that.

    • Yes! The story was pretty awful in comparison. She went by the name of Rai, and was a pretty unconvincing male. (Though the twins were still her self appointed buds.)

      • On your ‘Coming Soon’ page, you said you needed to work on other projects during June and July. Now that it’s almost August, I was wondering if you had any plans for a Life Reader sequel, which you said would be coming out in 2016 (this year!).

      • Sadly the Life Reader sequel has been put on hold indefinitely. I WILL get written, but when I was initially hoping to write it sooner as opposed to later I never took into consideration the business stuff I get to deal with on a regular basis. (Some of it is fun–like creating a new website! Others not so fun, like accounting. Ugh.) Also, the big hold up is that before I write a sequel, Life Reader is in need of a very serious edit, and my editors are scheduled to first go over Cinderella, Rumpelstiltskin, and a few other fairy tales first, but it is in the line!
